Robert Hipwell
Scotts Valley HS (CA), Santa Clara, MLD Draft: 6th round, SF Giants
Hi, my name is Robert Hipwell, Santa Clara baseball alumni and current San Francisco Giants minor leaguer. J.K. is the man, I'm telling you. I've been working with him for three years, ever since I got to Santa Clara. And, you know, his mentorship and guidance has been amazing for me. He definitely, he's directed me on the right path.
He knows what to focus on, what not to focus on, because he's lived it himself. He's played professional baseball. He's played college baseball. He knows what it takes to get to the next level. Along with that, he's been a recruiter, so he knows what other coaches, what other scouts are looking for, and he knows what to work on and develop. And I think one of the biggest things that JK's taught me is the mental game and how to master that, because...
That's something that a lot of younger players kind of overlook and you don't really see as an important factor. But J.K.'s really good about incorporating that and teaching me how to master that. And I feel like I've gotten so much better from him. So if I had the opportunity to work with J.K., I would take it, snap of my finger any day, any time, anywhere. And I still see him a lot from time to time. And we always say hi. We're still friends. J.K. always is texting me.
You know, for me working with JK, I think it's something that all kids, especially at any age, honestly, he knows how to work with younger kids. JK, love you, man.

Jon’s knowledge and experience as a former D1 recruiting coordinator was invaluable in helping us navigate the recruiting process. Jon helped my son stay organized and focused throughout. He was always available to answer any questions we had or just talk through various scenarios.
Jon’s insight and advice helped my son make a thoughtful, well informed decision, that we are all very excited about. My son will continue to rely on Jon for guidance and I am confident that any baseball player would benefit from having Jon in their corner.

Our son initially worked on skill development with Jon in person. When our son returned to school, we switched to remote mental performance.
Time was spent helping our son set goals, staying accountable and discussing our son’s thought process throughout the highs and lows of his High School season. Those calls turned out to be invaluable. Jon’s baseball experience as a D1 Coach and Recruiter brought a level of understanding and perspective we could not provide as parents.
Jon understood our son on a level that could not be determined in a metrics or stat. He was able to speak with conviction about his playing abilities and who he is as person. He had seen our son play, he had talked with him intimately about his goals and knew his mindset.
Those College Coaches showed up and our son is now committed to play baseball in college. It is a dream come true for our son. We feel blessed to have had someone that truly had his back!

Blake Hammond
Holy Family HS (CO), Santa Clara, recruited and coached at SCU, MLB Draft: 15th RD, A’s
First off, my relationship with JK started as a coach at Santa Clara. He's actually the one who helped recruit me to come play there. It's since turned into a great friendship and a great mentor of mine and I'm forever grateful for that. Some of the guidance that JK has really helped me with over the years is buying into a long-term process and not being focused on short-term results.
It's so easy to get caught up in what you're doing right now and if you're a producer or not, but the long-term process and the track that you're on is way more important. J.K. has really helped me see into that and is constantly reminding me of it and getting me back on track whenever needed. From what you can expect with J.K., first off, he's a great character. J.K. is an amazing guy. He brings in unmatched energy each and every day. He's extremely organized and he's very dialed in on his own habits, so it's easy to follow suit.
The biggest thing I'd say you're getting out of him is going into your college career prepared. I know I wish I could go back and learn some of the stuff that I learned throughout my college career back in high school so I could go in even more prepared. J.K. has seen it all. He's been around college programming for a long time, so he knows what it takes to go in and have success and be prepared and get playing time right away.
He's going to help you develop that long-term process and identify the habits you need day in and day out to get to where you want to be, and I think that's extremely valuable and 100% worth it, and you'll see the dividends pay off in your career.

St. Francis HS, Cañada JC, Fresno State Commit
I started working with Coach Karcich in the fall of my sophomore year at my junior college. I was stressed about finding a home to continue my academic and athletic career for the next year and did not have too many leads as to where that place may be.
Working with Jon during this time helped me stress less and trust the process more. To me, this was much more than just a consulting journey, it was a mental process that Coach Jon helped guide me through. Throughout all the ups and downs of the spring season Jon was on my side telling me to trust myself and trust that I would find a home to play and I eventually did.
I recently committed to Fresno State and couldn’t be happier for myself and my family as well as thankful for Coach Karcich because he is the person who was able to connect me with that school
Athlete Feedback On The Mental Performance Program
What did you enjoy most about the mental performance program?
"My favorite thing about the program is that it has helped have confidence and help have control of my mindset."
"The consistency. I felt like you were always on me to stay on top of everything."
"The fulfillment/consistency I’ve gained."
"I enjoyed the accountability that it made me have and looking to reach for a goal."
"Creating goals and a plan that was allowed me to achieve those goals."
"Learning about the uncontrollable and focusing on process other than results."
Did you notice any improvements in your performance on the field?
"Yes I have more confidence in my ability to succeed. Also remembering breath work to help me stay dialed and locked in a calm for the moment. But with that I also remember when I’m doing any baseball stuff or training to Remember that you always sink to the level of your training and know my training has paid off."
"I would say the biggest thing would be confidence. I always thought I was confident but didn’t really fully understand until working with you. I feel like now my confidence is derived from the fact that I have a plan to fall back on every time I step on the field no matter who I play against. Before it was just because I knew I was a pretty good player."
"100% Fielding is cleaner, more confidence."
"On the field I noticed myself becoming more present and aware of my situations."
"Yeah it helped with my consistency in my training."
"I don’t ride the ups and downs as much anymore, it’s still an ongoing thing. But I’m much better at controlling my emotions than I was before."
What would you describe the way the program was delivered?
"I would say it was delivered well and started off slow with the breathing and metal exercise work and learning the importance of what it actually is."
"Wouldn’t change a thing."
"Very engaging, was very clear at delivering the message."
"It was very organized and all of the material that was given was very clear."
"I think the program was delivered well."
